Ester Reiter is a Professor Emerita in the School of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies at York University.
Ester Reiter is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Sciences, Atkinson Faculty of Liberal and Professional Studies and the School of Women’s Studies at Atkinson College, York University. She teaches issues related to gender, race, class and diversity. She is particularly interested in the linkages between the anti communist hysteria of the 1950s and the current War on Terror. Ester explores the many ways in which people identify with their ethnic communities and how this changes over time. She is committed to connecting her research with community organizations and making her research available in popular venues, most recently in a production of the Jumblies Theatre in summer of ’08. Ester is an active member of the United Jewish People’s Order in Toronto.
