Geoffrey Huck is author of What is Good Writing? (Oxford University Press, 2015), co-author of Ideology and Linguistic Theory (Routledge, 1995), and co-editor of Discontinuous Constituency (Academic Press, 1986). He has published widely in the field of theoretical linguistics, with articles in the journals Language; Linguistics and Philosophy; Historiographia Linguistica; Studies in Language; Communications; and Contemporary Linguistics; and chapters in several books, including Polymorphous Linguistics (MIT Press, 2005); The Joy of Grammar (Benjamins, 1992); and Categorial Grammars and Natural Language Structures (Reidel, 1988). His comic novel, Speechless: A Life of the Mind University Mystery, written under the pseudonym Morty Guggenmoose, was published by Leaping Lion Books in 2011. He also has considerable experience in publishing, most recently as an executive editor (acquiring in the fields of classics, economics, and linguistics) at the University of Chicago Press. He is interested in the creative use of language in all its forms.
