Profile Summary: After earning my Ph.D. from McGill University and completing postdoctoral fellowships at the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Toronto, I began my academic career at York University in 2007. With a strong dedication to research excellence, extensive teaching experience, and active engagement in over twenty associations and activities, I have made significant contributions as an author, lecturer, and supervisor of Ph.D. theses and M.A. dissertations. I have also served the university in administrative roles, including committee membership and leadership.
I have authored monographs on literary theory and Quebec literature, co-edited and edited books on various topics, and contributed to numerous book chapters, articles in peer-reviewed journals, dictionaries, and encyclopedias. I have presented papers internationally, given guest speeches in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, and led research projects funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
My research expertise encompasses Canada-Asia intercultural relations, the imaginary of the Americas and the Caribbean, and I have demonstrated strong leadership by organizing scholarly events and serving as a session chair. My extensive involvement in administrative committees, at national, provincial, faculty, and departmental levels, underscores my commitment to academic service and support for various academic initiatives.
I have also engaged in public events, including organizing a round table discussion on "Writing India in Quebec" and participating in public debates, resulting in publications and media interviews. These experiences reflect my dedication to public engagement and my willingness to contribute to discussions beyond academia.
Profile Full Academic: After completing my doctoral studies at McGill University and postdoctoral fellowships in Comparative Literature at the University of California, Berkeley, and in French Studies at the University of Toronto, I embarked on my academic career at York University in 2007. Over the course of years, I have demonstrated a strong commitment to research excellence, extensive teaching experience, and active engagement in over twenty associations and activities as an author, lecturer, and supervisor of Ph.D. theses and M.A. dissertations. In addition to my academic achievements, I have contributed to the administrative services of the university, having held various positions as a member and president of committees both within and outside of the institution.
I have authored monographs on literary theory and Quebec literature, as well as co-edited and edited books on the aesthetics and poetics of ordinary language from a transdisciplinary perspective, on Quebec literature, and social discourse analysis. My work also includes many book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals in my areas of research, and multiple articles for dictionaries and encyclopedias. As an academic, I have participated in various extra-university and public events. One example is the organization of a round table discussion on "Writing India in Quebec" with other writers and scholars. The debate was published in a special issue of the International Journal of Canadian Studies. I have also participated in public debates, such as one on the Quebec theater model, and my contributions were transcribed in a theater magazine. Additionally, I have given several media interviews, including TV interviews with CJNT Montreal Chanel and a radio interview with CFMB Radio Montreal.
