I was appointed as Associate Professor at the Division of Social Science at YORK University, in 1991 (Health & Society Program), having previously taught at the University of Montreal, the University of Moncton and the University of Quebec in Montreal. On several occasions I have been Invited Professor at the Business School of the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María in Valparaíso, Chile, the International MBA at the Universidad de Santiago , Chile and the Chilean Diplomatic Academy. I was a York University Senator between 2002 and 2005.

In non academic but research-related areas I was the director general of the Quebec Council for International Development (1985-1989), consultant for the Quebec Government and the Canadian International Development Agency. (1989-1995) , vice-president of the Council for International Relations in Montreal and a former member of the Consultant Committee for Ethnical Relations at the Montreal Urban Community as well as a former member of the board and the executive committee of the Canadian Council for International Co-operation. In 1988 I ran as NDP candidate in the federal election. I have a regular-weekly TV Interview Programme on International Issues on Chile’s Channel 9 (Quintavision-VTR).
