Community Contributions

Before earning a PhD in History from York, Jon Sufrin spent over a decade at Citytv/CTV Digital Media as a sales writer. Since 2009, he has taught many General Education courses at York in the Departments of Humanities and Writing, as well as upper year classes in History and Cultural Studies. He holds multiple nominations for York University Teaching Awards and won the President’s University-Wide Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2012. Jon also served as the Keele Campus Canadian Studies Program Coordinator from 2010-2013 and has organized/ served as a jurist on several University-Wide essay competitions. Jon is actively engaged in the promotion of good teaching at York, and worked in the Teaching Commons to this end as a Researcher in 2015. He also facilitates multiple workshops on “best practices” of student assessment with the Teaching Commons and remains actively involved with the Commons as a full-time faculty member.
