Marlene Bernholtz specializes in teaching Organizational/Corporate Writing in the Professional Writing Program in the Writing Department and offers individual instruction in the York University Writing Centre. Her courses advocate a strategic approach to communication that integrates rhetorical principles with practical problem-solving skills within a systematic, audience-focused process. Marlene has served as Undergraduate Program Director and Interim Writing Centre Director in the department, which she also represents in the Learning Commons to develop and promote academic literacies among undergraduate students. Research interests include integrating academic literacies into discipline-specific programs through a read-to-write pedagogical model, multilingual writing pedagogies, and the affective impact of institutional space on student learning.
