Professor Randy Hoffman is interested in: strategic management simulations; decision tree operational management simulations; case development in organizational behaviour; and probabilistic economic scenarios, all of which have been incorporated into his publishing and teaching. Prior to joining the Atkinson Faculty in 1978, Randy conducted strategic assessments of potential high technology ventures for a large Canadian firm. This formed the “real world” context for Professor Hoffman’s academic interests, which were translated into his authorship of a textbook on business policy after joining the Faculty. Cases he has developed have appeared in many Canadian and foreign textbook publications. He co-developed Resort Strategic Management Simulation to provide undergraduates, graduates and practicing managers with a comprehensive and interactive business learning experience. Randy has also been instrumental in the design and creation of a computer-based learning platform for multimedia, interactive, online education, an initiative derived, in part, from his earlier career in electronic systems engineering. Current teaching interests include organizational behaviour and several intermediate and advanced courses in operational and strategic management.
