Shanna Lino's research focuses on the cultural manifestations of Spanish identity formation as a negotiation of and reaction to minority languages, religions, and ethnicities, and as a consequence of historical internal and external migrations. Her recent publications examine the representation of contemporary immigration in Spanish narrative and film, and reflect her particular interest in the novela negra as a socially critical genre that is well poised for these discussions.
