Professor Waweru received his PhD in Management Accounting from the University of Cape Town . Prior to his appointment as Professor of Accounting to the School of Administrative Studies, Atkinson Faculty of Liberal and Professional Studies, at York University, Professor Waweru was a lecturer at the University of Nairobi, and a Professor of Accounting and Finance for the United States International University, Africa.

Professor Waweru is a member of the American Accounting Association (AAA), the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Ontario(CMA), and the Exclusive Literati Club (UK). Professor Waweru’s current research is a survey of performance measurement systems in Canadian government departments and agencies and Corporate Governance in Africa.
