Project Summary:

The politics of greenbelt areas in Seoul Metropolitan Area, South Korea: I examine the conflictual processes of political calibrations between state and non-state actors over the deregulation of greenbelt areas located in suburban and peri-urban areas of Seoul. The project further seeks to probe the natures of post-developmental urbanization as registered in the moves to deregulate greenbelts. I conduct this work as a collaborator in a research initiative entitled "Global Suburbanisms: Governance, Land, and Infrastructure in the 21st Century," which was awarded a SSHRC Major Collaborative Research Initiative (MCRI) grant.
