Andy Weaver specializes in contemporary Canadian and American poetry and poetics, with an emphasis on formally innovative and experimental texts. Most recently, he has published articles on contemporary visual poetry, M. NourbeSe Philip's Zong!, and creative writing pedagogy.

As a poet, he has been involved with several literary journals and poetry reading series. His first book of poetry, Were the Bees (NeWest Press, 2005), was shortlisted for an Alberta Book Award, and his chapbook “So/I” (above/ground) was longlisted for the 2022 Nelson Ball Prize. His fourth book, The Loom (U of Calgary P), was published in 2024.
