Marcel Martel (F.R.S.C.) is a Professor of History. In his capacity as the Avie Bennett Historica Canada Chair in Canadian History, he has published extensively on nationalism, relations between Quebec and the French-speaking minorities of Canada, public policy and counterculture, moral regulation, deviance, drug use, and RCMP surveillance activities.

His current research projects are on the development of the wine industry in Canada and the arrival of cognac in North America during the second half of the nineteenth century.
