Dr. Monica Belcourt is a Full Professor of Human Resources Management at York University. Dr. Belcourt’s research is grounded in the experience she gained as Director of Personnel for CP Rail, Director of Employee Development, National Film Board, and as a functional HR specialist for the federal government. Monica has taught HRM at Concordia,UQUAM, McGill and York, where she founded and managed the largest under-graduate program in HRM in Canada. Monica created Canada's first degrees in human resources management: B.HRM, B.HRM (honours) and a Masters in HRM. She was the founding director of the Graduate program in HRM. Dr. Belcourt was Director of the International Alliance for HR Research (IAHRR) which was a catalyst for the discovery, dissemination and application of new knowledge about HRM. Professor Belcourt's research interests focus on strategic HRM. Monica has published over 100 articles, several of which received best paper awards. Monica is Series Editor for the Nelson Canada Series in HRM. Additionally, Dr. Belcourt is the lead author of the best selling book, Managing Human Resources, published by Nelson. Active in many professional associations and not-for-profit organizations, Dr. Belcourt is the Past President of the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario, and is a past board member of CIBC Insurance and the Toronto French School. Monica is also a frequent commentator on HRM issues for CTV, Canada AM, CBC, The Globe and Mail, and The Canadian HR Reporter. Dr. Belcourt received the prestigious Fellow designation FCHRP, for her outstanding contributions to the HR profession.
